Natalie and Alex’s Inn at Diamond Cove wedding unfolded slowly, with ocean air, ferry rides, and a full weekend surrounded by their favorite people. Set on Great Diamond Island, their coastal Maine celebration brought guests together from across the country. From the very beginning, everything felt intentional, relaxed, and genuinely fun.
A Coastal Maine Wedding Weekend Experience
For Natalie, getting married on the Maine coast had always been part of the plan. At the same time, Alex’s roots in Wisconsin meant many guests would be traveling. Because of that, they prioritized a location where everyone could stay and spend time together.
From Thursday through Sunday, their wedding party shared the island. Mornings started slowly with coffee, while afternoons were spent near the water. Then, each evening naturally turned into a celebration. Rather than feeling rushed, the weekend gave everyone space to settle in.
And of course, the ferry ride set the tone right away. It immediately felt like a true Maine experience.
Planning an Inn at Diamond Cove Wedding from Afar
Planning a Maine wedding while living in Wisconsin could have been overwhelming. However, Natalie and Alex built the right support system early on.
Charli from Confetti & Cocktails Events Co. guided the planning process, while Natalie’s sister Caroline helped with details along the way. Because of that, everything came together smoothly.
Instead of focusing on logistics, Natalie was able to stay present in the process. Most importantly, she could focus on the personal touches that made the day feel like theirs.
A Blue & White Coastal Wedding Design
From the very beginning, they kept coming back to one word: fun.
They wanted guests to feel it the moment they arrived. More importantly, they wanted the entire weekend to feel easy and welcoming. To reflect that, they chose a soft blue and white coastal palette.
As a result, the design felt light and natural against the island setting. Then, as the evening unfolded, live music carried across the celebration. The dance floor filled quickly, and guests stayed present in the moment.
A Quiet First Look on the Water
Before the ceremony, they chose to share a private first look.
They met on a quiet peninsula overlooking the water. It was just the two of them, along with their photographer, videographer, and live painter. Because of that, the moment felt calm and uninterrupted.
For a few minutes, everything slowed down. They stepped outside the timeline and simply focused on each other. More than anything, it reminded them why they were there.
Advice for Couples Planning a Coastal Maine Wedding
Natalie shared one piece of advice that feels especially important:
No one will remember the napkins.
In the moment, it’s easy to focus on small details. However, those aren’t the things that last. Instead, people remember how the day felt.
Because of that, Natalie recommends investing in what truly matters. For them, that meant a photographer and videographer they genuinely connected with. In addition, they chose to include a live painter. Not only did they leave with a meaningful piece of art, but guests also loved watching it come to life throughout the night.
A Love Story Years in the Making
Natalie and Alex first connected through work. At the time, Natalie had just started as a sales rep in Maine, while Alex worked as a sales trainer in Wisconsin.
Later, they reconnected at a national sales meeting. From there, their relationship grew naturally.
Eventually, Natalie moved to Madison. What was meant to be a short stay turned into five years. During that time, they built a life together — including their dog Kevin, a home, and lasting friendships. Even more meaningfully, their former managers became part of their wedding day and officiated their ceremony.
A Wedding Day They Never Wanted to End
When the day came to a close, neither of them wanted it to end.
Throughout the night, they stayed side by side. Instead of feeling pulled in different directions, they chose to experience everything together.
Then, the next day, it all caught up with them. As they boarded a plane to South Africa for their honeymoon, Natalie felt overwhelmed — in the best way. Not because of stress, but because everything had felt exactly right.
