An Owls Nest Resort Wedding in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Some couples tour a dozen venues before finding the one. Anna and Anthony toured exactly one. From the moment they discovered Owls Nest Resort in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, they knew it was right. Their late summer wedding, photographed by Esra Y Photography, was a celebration of love, family, and the kind of joy that keeps everyone on the dance floor all night long.
A Love Story That Started at Work
Anna and Anthony met as coworkers in Boston. Friendship came first, and then something more followed naturally. During the pandemic, Anna moved in with Anthony and his family, bringing everyone closer together. That experience showed them both just how much they value family and showing up for the people they love. It set the tone for everything that came after.
When Anthony proposed, Anna had absolutely no idea it was coming. He chose their regular four-mile walking loop with their dog, Millie. Anna was in shorts and an oversized sweatshirt. Toward the end of the walk, Anthony got down on one knee. Moments later, his cousin and her husband appeared from the woods with champagne. It was perfectly them.
Why They Chose an Owls Nest Resort Wedding
Anna and Anthony spend most of their free weekends in the White Mountains, hiking, skiing, and camping. The region holds a special place in their lives. Since Anna’s family had never visited the area, they loved the idea of sharing it with everyone they care about in one unforgettable weekend.
Their first tour of Owls Nest came with an unexpected twist. Their car broke down in the parking lot. While waiting for a ride, they headed to the bar and ended up chatting with guests from a wedding happening that same weekend. Those guests raved about the experience. Then the wedding program manager covered their tab. After that, no other venues stood a chance.
Beyond the warm welcome, Owls Nest offered something important to Anna and Anthony: a full destination experience for their guests. With plenty to do on and off the property, friends and family could make a whole weekend of it.
Timeless, Elegant, and Completely Them
For their wedding aesthetic, Anna and Anthony leaned into timeless elegance with personal touches woven throughout. Shades of green felt just right for a late summer day in the White Mountains. Anthony styled a standout green suit for himself and his groomsmen, while Anna pulled together every detail to bring their shared vision to life.
The personal touches made all the difference. Cocktail napkins featured their dog Millie’s face. Fun signage added personality throughout the reception. And in place of a traditional wedding cake, Lighthouse Local provided donuts for dessert. True to them in every way.
Music, Dancing, and a Mission Accomplished
Music is a big deal in Anna and Anthony’s household. Their goal was simple: get every single guest on the dance floor. Thanks to the Silver Arrow Band and a carefully curated playlist, that mission was absolutely accomplished.
A Ceremony Full of Love and Meaning
The ceremony held the most emotion of the entire day. Anna and Anthony kept things lighthearted, yet they also wanted to honor the weight of the vows they were exchanging. There was also a bittersweet note, as they felt the absence of Anthony’s mom, who passed away a few years earlier. Even so, her presence was deeply felt throughout the day.
In fact, they chose to honor her in a deeply meaningful way. Anna’s engagement ring carries the diamond from Anthony’s mom’s ring. His wedding band incorporates the gold from her bands. Even though she could not be there in person, her love remains part of their marriage every single day.
Advice from Anna and Anthony
Their biggest piece of advice? Don’t overthink it, and throw the big party. Anna and Anthony nearly skipped the big wedding altogether. Looking back, they are so glad they didn’t. There is no other time in life when every person you love will be in one room together.
On the practical side, they suggest leaning on friends and family, tracking milestones in a spreadsheet, and ignoring social media pressure. Most importantly, add touches that reflect who you are as a couple. It will all come together.
