This classic and timeless wedding at Portland Country Club was a true celebration of love, family, and the moments that make a wedding unforgettable. Annie and Jack embraced a timeless aesthetic, a heartfelt church ceremony, and a reception filled with incredible energy—capped off by a Celtics overtime playoff win at their after-party.
A Proposal in the Mountains
Annie and Jack’s love story began in Boston in 2016, when Jack attended Annie’s housewarming party through a mutual friend. After years of dating, they moved to Maine in 2020 and shared their lives with their precocious pup, Philo (named after a small mountain in Vermont near Annie’s hometown).
On the day after Thanksgiving in November 2021, the three of them hiked up Mt. Philo together—where Jack proposed at the summit. It was the perfect setting, tying together their love for the outdoors and Annie’s roots in Vermont.
Finding the Perfect Venue for a Classic and Timeless Wedding
Annie and Jack searched high and low for the right venue, considering both Vermont and Maine before running into roadblocks. It wasn’t until Jack’s parents suggested Portland Country Club that everything clicked into place.
- The venue offered classic elegance and a stress-free experience for their reception.
- St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, located just up the road, provided the perfect backdrop for a beautiful and meaningful ceremony.
- The couple was able to bring in their own officiant, making the ceremony truly personal.
- The outdoor deck at PCC created a stunning setting for cocktail hour, especially with their luck in getting perfect weather!
Sentimental & Unforgettable Moments
Their wedding day was filled with too many meaningful moments to count, but a few stand out:
- The ceremony at St. Mary’s was brought to life by florist Celia St. Onge, who created an ethereal, romantic atmosphere with lush greenery and classic white florals.
- The best investment they made? Their live band! Ripcord, from Boston, brought unmatched energy to the dance floor and kept the party going all night.
- And finally, the unexpected cherry on top: The Celtics won their playoff game in overtime during their after-party at Gritty McDuff’s! The celebration just kept going.
A Timeless & Elegant Design
Annie and Jack wanted a wedding that enhanced the setting without overpowering it.
- Their color palette of greens and whites created a classic, understated elegance.
- Floral details at St. Mary’s transformed the church into a magical, romantic setting.
- The reception decor was refined yet warm, allowing the beauty of Portland Country Club to shine.
It was a design that felt fresh, polished, and truly timeless.
