Amanda and Ryan’s Winthrop Carter House wedding in Boscawen, NH, felt like a fairytale brought to life. With a mix of elegant DIY details, subtle Disney-inspired touches, and heartfelt moments with loved ones—including their beloved dog, Aurora—their day was a perfect reflection of their love story. Captured beautifully, their wedding was filled with creativity, sentimentality, and a touch of magic.
From hotel coworkers to a forever love
Amanda and Ryan first met while working at a hotel, and their connection was instant—at least for Ryan. “He says it was love at first sight—he just knew,” they shared. “Amanda took a little longer to come around, but Ryan’s Flamingo impersonation eventually sealed the deal.”
Their relationship deepened during COVID, allowing them to spend quality time together without distractions. When Ryan decided to propose, he chose Cathedral Ledge in North Conway as the perfect spot.
“We went on a hike, and Ryan kept searching for the best place to pop the question. We were constantly interrupted by other sightseers, but finally, in a quiet, wooded area (with caterpillars falling from the trees!), he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”
Bringing their Winthrop Carter House wedding vision to life
When it came time to plan their wedding, Amanda and Ryan embraced a hands-on approach, DIY-ing nearly every detail.
“Our house was always filled with boxes and projects, but it was worth it—everything came out perfectly,” they said. From decor to custom signage, they poured their creativity into every aspect of the celebration.
The Winthrop Carter House wedding venue was the perfect fit for their vision. “We needed a location close to home for family members who couldn’t travel far, but we also wanted that destination wedding feel. The property’s historic charm won us over instantly.”
A wedding day filled with love, magic, and a special guest
One of the most emotional moments of their wedding day was their first look with their dog, Aurora.
“Our dog, Aurora, was part of our wedding, and those first look photos with her are so precious to us. She passed away shortly after the wedding, so having her there was incredibly meaningful. We wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.”
Their wedding day felt like an elegant family gathering with a touch of Disney magic.
“Amanda’s a lifelong Disney fan, so we incorporated that theme subtly into the day. Our guests said it felt like they’d been swept away to an enchanted land.”
From delicate nods to fairytales in the decor to an overall sense of whimsy and romance, the Disney-inspired details added a unique, personal touch.
Wedding planning advice from Amanda and Ryan
Their biggest advice for engaged couples is to enjoy the engagement phase and not let wedding planning take over every moment.
“It’s easy to get swept up in planning and forget to appreciate this moment. Take breaks, do something non-wedding-related, and remember that it’s okay to ask for help, especially if you’re DIY-ing. You don’t have to do everything yourself.”
Looking back on their Winthrop Carter House wedding
For Amanda and Ryan, their wedding day was more than just an event—it felt like fate.
“We both had this calm excitement, like our entire lives had been leading to this moment. It truly felt like a fairy tale, with Amanda as the Disney princess and Ryan as her prince charming.”
