Elegant Forest Wedding at King’s Hill Inn in South Paris, Maine

Camille and Devan’s King’s Hill Inn wedding in South Paris, Maine, was a peaceful, joy-filled weekend that balanced elegance with heartfelt simplicity. With a ceremony tucked into the woods, cocktails in the garden, and a candlelit barn reception, their July celebration was the kind of weekend that lingers with you long after the last s’more has been toasted.

A College Connection Turned Lifelong Love

The story began during new student orientation—Camille and Devan first met before their freshman year of college. Life kept them in separate orbits until a serendipitous hallway run-in sophomore year. From there, the relationship bloomed into late-night museum dreams, a shared love for travel, and eventually, a proposal beneath a willow tree by the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., with the Washington Monument in the background. A full-circle moment, five years in the making.

Planning a Personalized Weekend at King’s Hill Inn & Barn

One thing Camille and Devan knew from the start? They wanted full control of their vendor team—and they were up for the planning. After touring venues across New England, King’s Hill Inn & Barn won them over with its cozy feel, forest ceremony space, and weekend-long rental that could accommodate over 100 guests.

They leaned into spreadsheets, priority lists, and a long planning window to bring their vision to life. “It might not be for everyone,” they said, “but it worked out wonderfully for us!”

The venue’s flexibility also allowed them to center their top priorities: great catering, a big dance floor, and on-site lodging for their closest people.

Forest Vows, Garden Cocktails, and a Golden Hour to Remember

Their wedding day was pure magic. The ceremony took place in the woods under sunny skies, cocktail hour unfolded in the garden, and the reception was set inside the barn just as golden hour arrived. “The weather was perfect,” they shared. “Not a single cloud, and that sunset—every photo from that hour just radiates happiness.”

Their elegant-meets-rustic aesthetic leaned into earthy tones like sage, blush, and warm neutrals, with gold accents to tie it together. They softened the barn’s natural texture with white linens, paper lanterns strung with lights, and a sea of candlelight that brought just the right kind of glow.

All Weekend Long: From S’mores to Sunrise

One of the best decisions they made? Stretching the wedding into a full weekend. The celebration began Friday morning as guests arrived, and by Saturday afternoon, it all came together. “There was a lot of suspense leading up to it,” they said. “But once the ceremony began, everything clicked into place. We didn’t leave the dance floor all night—except for one quick dessert and drink break!”

The night wrapped with a cozy bonfire and a final toast under the stars. The next morning, they said goodbye with a laid-back brunch, savoring every last second with their people.

Advice From the Couple

Their biggest tip? Get organized early—and don’t underestimate the power of a good spreadsheet. “We tracked everything—priorities, vendors, payments—and it helped keep the stress down and the focus on what mattered most to us.”

And perhaps most importantly: “Design a day that feels like you. Let go of traditions that don’t fit and embrace the ones that do. This is your story—make it feel right.”
