Finbar and Brianna’s Barker House wedding in Scituate, Massachusetts, was the kind of celebration that feels like a warm hug. Set on a crisp September day, this romantic fall wedding was filled with laughter, personal touches, and a little coastal charm woven throughout. With the historic venue as their backdrop and a navy and autumn-inspired color palette to tie it all together, their day was nothing short of dreamy.
From Surprise Venue Tour to the Perfect Barker House Wedding
Barker House wasn’t even on Finbar and Brianna’s radar—at first. They had scheduled a tour of a different Wedgewood Weddings venue, when they got a call inviting them to see a new property under renovation nearby. Initially unsure (it leaned more beachy than they had planned), they decided to check it out anyway. The moment they started winding through the backroads to Barker House, they both started laughing. “We had a good feeling,” they recalled.
The historic charm, affordable packages, and the sweet coincidence of a café called “Lucky Finn” across the street sealed the deal. As Brianna put it, “Something about it was just… right.”
Their Proposal Story: A Surprise Party on the Waterfront
Finbar and Brianna met in 2017 at UMass Lowell through a mutual friend. After years of growing together, Finbar proposed in April 2023 under the guise of celebrating Brianna’s birthday. He took her to dinner at Chart House on Long Wharf in Boston—a spot close to his heart—then proposed outside on the compass rose by the water. Seconds later, more than a dozen friends and family came running out from their hiding spots to celebrate. “It was a dream,” Brianna shared. “It was really important to me to have everyone there.”
A Fall Wedding Full of Color, Candles, and Cozy Vibes
Brianna has always loved fall, and the couple knew they wanted to capture that comfort and color in their celebration. “We wanted our wedding to feel romantic and cozy,” she said. With glowing fireplaces at Barker House, candles everywhere, and a deep navy accent tying in the coastal setting of Scituate, the vision came to life beautifully.
“The whole thing pulled together without clashing,” they said. “Shout out to the staff at Barker House and our florist—they helped curate the vibe perfectly.”
Favorite Moments: From Ceremony to Celebration
While the entire day was packed with laughter and love, there was one moment that stood out for both Finbar and Brianna. “Walking back down the aisle as husband and wife to ‘You Make My Dreams’ by Daryl Hall & John Oates felt like we were in a rom-com. It was this wave of relief and happiness—like, the hard parts are over and now we get to just have fun.”
They were surrounded by a joyful, supportive wedding party and family, and they made sure to savor every second.
Advice From the Couple
So many couples say it, and Finbar and Brianna are no exception: “Soak it all in.” They added, “We know it’s cliché, but the whole process flies by. Delegate to your friends and family, lean on your support system, and don’t sweat the small stuff. It will never be perfect—and that’s okay.”
Their biggest takeaway? “We laughed so much on our wedding day. We were just happy to be together, and nothing else really mattered.”
