Charlotte and Chris’s Chebeague Island Inn wedding on June 8, 2024, was a joyful celebration of love, coastal charm, and community. Set against the backdrop of Casco Bay and captured beautifully by Rodeo & Co. Photography, their day reflected everything the couple values—Maine’s natural beauty, meaningful traditions, and time spent with the people they love most.
From Long Distance to Lifelong Love
Charlotte and Chris’s story began with a pandemic-era setup. Charlotte’s best friend Margot had put the word out that she was looking to meet someone serious—and her brother delivered. Chris, living in Nashville, was a friend from grad school, and after a few FaceTime calls, the two met up in New York City.
A year of long-distance dating followed before Chris moved to Boston. When he proposed, he organized a virtual scavenger hunt with Charlotte’s closest friends that led her to him—waiting by the water in Boston’s Seaport, along one of their favorite walking routes.
“She said yes, of course,” he shared. “And we knew we wanted to build a life full of laughter, adventure, and the people we love most.”
Why They Chose a Chebeague Island Inn Wedding
Both Charlotte and Chris went to college in Maine and were active on their respective sailing teams, so it was no surprise they were drawn to the coast for their wedding. “We wanted a place that incorporated our love for Maine and the water,” they shared. Chebeague Island Inn delivered that and more.
Not only did the venue provide stunning views and a coastal setting, but it also offered their guests a full weekend experience—complete with pickleball, golf, and island adventures. “We didn’t want just a few hours with people; we wanted time to truly connect and celebrate.”
With help from their planner, Bridgid of Landfall Designs, they navigated the logistics of hosting a wedding on an island. “She was instrumental in everything—from timing to transportation. We couldn’t have done it without her.”
An Unforgettable Seaside Ceremony
The ceremony itself became one of the most memorable parts of the day. Held outdoors with Casco Bay in view, the couple gambled with the weather and won. “There had been thunderstorms all day, but when Bridgid said we had a window, we went for it.”
Charlotte walked down the inn’s iconic steps as thunder rumbled softly in the distance, and their friend Margot—who had introduced the two—officiated a deeply personal and heartfelt ceremony. “It felt like we had loved ones watching over us,” they said. Just as the ceremony concluded and everyone returned to the inn for cocktail hour, the skies finally opened.
Celebrating with Color and Joy
For their Chebeague Island Inn wedding, Charlotte and Chris created a timeless, relaxed weekend vibe with colorful and whimsical details woven throughout the day. They were inspired by favorite elements from other weddings but made the day uniquely theirs.
“We threw out the rulebook,” they said. “We focused on what would feel fun, memorable, and meaningful to us. That mindset really freed us to be creative and enjoy the process.” From the music to the menus, every detail carried intention.
Favorite Moments and Meaningful Advice
Beyond the ceremony, what stood out most to the couple was watching the people they love connect with each other. “Seeing our friends and family from different parts of our lives interacting was incredibly special. There were so many fun small-world moments.”
Their best advice for engaged couples? “Don’t get caught up in what weddings are supposed to look like. Focus on what feels right for you.”
And of course—have fun. “Our band, Ripcord, kept the dance floor packed. We couldn’t stop smiling all weekend.”
