Scenic Coastal Engagement Session at Kettle Cove

This coastal engagement session at Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, perfectly captured Michelle & Rory’s love story. With a backdrop of rugged shoreline, golden sand, and lush greenery, the session reflected their journey—from meeting in college to their unforgettable proposal in Quebec. Now, as they prepare for their May 2025 wedding at The 1812 Farm, this engagement session was a beautiful way to celebrate their next chapter.

A Love Story That Started at UMass Amherst

Michelle & Rory first met at UMass Amherst, where a mutual friend unknowingly set the stage for their love story.

“One of my best friends moved off campus junior year and had new roommates through mutual connections,” Michelle shares. “I would visit her often, but I didn’t meet Rory until second semester when he started hanging out more. We caught each other’s eye, spent more time together, and eventually started dating!”

Eight years later, their story led them to Portland, Maine—a place they now call home.

A Magical Proposal in Quebec City

Rory planned the perfect winter proposal during a Christmas getaway to Quebec City.

Since they typically spent Christmas with their own families, the couple had a tradition of celebrating together afterwards. In December 2023, they decided to take a road trip from Portland to Quebec for a festive and cozy winter escape.

“On our second day there, we spent the afternoon relaxing at a Nordic spa and had some time before our dinner reservations,” Michelle recalls. “Rory suggested a walk around the Citadelle of Quebec, and as we paused to take in the breathtaking view of the city, he got down on one knee and proposed!”

The freezing temperatures meant they celebrated quickly before heading inside to warm up at the nearest bar—an engagement story they’ll never forget!

Choosing Kettle Cove for Their Coastal Engagement Session

When it came time for their engagement photos, Michelle & Rory knew they wanted a location that reflected their life in Maine.

“Kettle Cove was the perfect spot because it had both the coastal views we love and beautiful greenery, giving us the best of both worlds,” Michelle shares.

Set against the crashing waves, rocky shoreline, and golden sunset, their coastal engagement session was filled with candid moments and natural beauty—an ideal preview of the elegant Maine wedding they’re planning.

Looking Ahead to Their Wedding at The 1812 Farm

Michelle & Rory will tie the knot on May 10, 2025, at The 1812 Farm in Bristol, Maine.

“We wanted to get married in Maine, and after touring a few venues, we absolutely fell in love with The 1812 Farm,” Michelle says. “The lush garden, the pond at the center, and the barn’s elegance made it feel like the perfect place.”

As a special connection, the venue also has historical ties to Massachusetts, where the couple first met—bringing their love story full circle.

Excited for the Next Chapter

Now that the countdown is on, Michelle & Rory are most looking forward to having all of their family and close friends together in one place.

“We’re so excited to celebrate with everyone we love,” Michelle says. “It’s going to be an incredible day, and we can’t wait for this next chapter to begin!”
