Jason and Harmeet’s Fort Williams proposal was nothing short of magical. Set against the backdrop of Portland Head Light at sunrise, their engagement was a perfect blend of sentimentality, privacy, and breathtaking scenery. Captured beautifully by Emily Sawchuck Photography, this session radiates love, joy, and the deep connection they share.
A Love Story That Began in High School
Jason and Harmeet’s journey began in high school, where Jason first noticed Harmeet in the lunchroom and immediately introduced himself. Within a week, they had exchanged phone numbers, spending their early dates studying at the library and grabbing frozen yogurt at the mall.
From those simple beginnings, their relationship grew into a lasting love story, leading them to this unforgettable Fort Williams proposal years later.
A Sunrise Proposal at Portland Head Light
Jason carefully planned the perfect setting for his proposal, choosing Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth, Maine for its iconic lighthouse and peaceful atmosphere.
“It was a rainy Thursday morning, but we decided to go for a walk along the shore. Just as we reached the rocky coastline, the rain stopped, and the sunrise peeked through the clouds,” they shared.
As they stood together, reflecting on their years as a couple, Jason knelt down on one knee and, through nervous excitement, managed to ask the most important question of his life:
“Will you marry me?”
Harmeet said yes, and the morning was spent calling family and friends before celebrating over breakfast in downtown Portland.
Why Fort Williams Was the Perfect Proposal Spot
Lighthouses have always been meaningful to Jason, as his grandmother gifted his parents a mini lighthouse each anniversary. Choosing Portland Head Light as the proposal location was a sentimental nod to his family’s tradition.
As self-proclaimed morning people, Jason and Harmeet also loved the idea of a sunrise proposal for the quiet, intimate moment it would provide before the park became crowded.
A Destination Wedding in Lake Como
Jason and Harmeet will tie the knot this August in Lake Como, Italy, at a stunning 18th-century villa on the shore of the lake.
They are most excited about celebrating with their closest family and friends, taking in the breathtaking views, and finally becoming husband and wife.
