We were blown away by these gorgeous images shot at sunrise by Emily Sawchuck Photography. While we always love a beautiful proposal, we also love the absolute joy and happiness that both Jason and Harmeet show throughout their session. We are thrilled to share a bit about the two of them below.
Jason and Harmeet met in high school. Jason notes that he first saw her in the lunchroom and quickly went over to introduce himself. Within a week, they exchanged phone numbers and would go on dates to study at the library together and get frozen yogurt at the mall together. The rest is history!
In regards to the proposal itself, they share, “It was a rainy Thursday morning. We went on a morning walk at the Portland Head Lighthouse. During the hour we spent along the shore, it stopped raining, allowing the sunrise to peek through. We walked out onto the rocky shore and reflected on the last few years together. Jason then knelt down on one knee and could barely spit out his planned proposal speech before stammering out, ‘Will you marry me?’. After Harmeet said ‘Yes!’, we spent the time calling family and friends to inform them of our engagement and grabbed breakfast at a spot in downtown Portland after.”
Lighthouses are meaningful to Jason because his grandmother used to gift his parents a mini lighthouse each anniversary. As they are also both morning birds, Jason selected a sunrise proposal to also have the advantage of having privacy for their special moment.
Jason and Harmeet are so excited to be getting married this August in Italy at Lake Como. They are getting married on the shore of the lake at an 18th-century villa. They are most looking forward to being able to celebrate with all of their close family and friends as well as finally being married!
